Little Update

Wow it has been way to long since I’ve been on here. So here is a little update. I’m in my last semester of college, carrying a full load. I’m taking 18 credits. I have Senior Seminar, Economics and Finance of Health Care Systems, Health Care Policy, Politics, and Law, Sociology of Family, Social Problems, and Community and Urban Sociology. I also just did my shadowing days at the local high school so I can substitute teach, now I’m just waiting for the School Board’s approval on Feb. 12th. This past weekend, I got to watch a little Keydet basketball, spend time with my boyfriend, and hang out with some friends at UVA. Speaking of Keydet basketball, history was made on Saturday. The Holmes twins are now the highest scoring twins in the NCAA. I absolutely LOVE driving in the mountains and valley up there. It is georgous!! I really want to live in the valley up there one day. I’m working this whole weekend and probably filling out my application for nursing school. More school..yea I know, I’m crazy, but I really think that it will be the smartest thing to do, because it will give me the clinical experience to go along with my administrative degree. Other than that I’m just looking forward to Midwinter Formal, its gonna be fun!! I’ll try and do better about keeping this up to date.

How I LOVE my VMI weekends

Tailgating, parades, the band, football, old yells, bagpipes, the vibe in general, and not to mention my boyfriend are some of my favorite things about VMI on the weekends. This weekend was Homecoming, the Keydets played U of R and unfortunately the lost, I guess the football team thought the Rats needed a break from all those pushups they did at the last home game. Tailgating with Alex’s rat’s family is great! They are a lot of fun and are hardcore tailgaters. Alex’s old roommate and his fiance came down and I got to hang out and see some of my other favorite Keydets as well. We went out to dinner which was fun and reminisced about past trips, parties, weekends, and what not! We were laughing pretty hard by the time we left the restaurant. Leaving on Sundays is the hardest part however and no matter how many times I do it, it never gets any easier. Plus this time we arent sure when the next time is we’ll get to see each other since I’m working Parents Weekend, then the FTX is the weekend after that and then hopefully Alex will get to come to the Highland Games the following weekend. This time needs to go by fast and I need to stay busy, but I’m getting tired of school work already myself. As much as I like the visiting VMI on the weekends, I cant wait to visit with him as alumni.

Grey’s is back!

So after last year’s writer strike and the summer, Grey’s Anatomy is finally back! It wasnt quite as good as I had inticipated but it wasnt too bad either. The begining with Derek dying in Meridith’s dream was pretty scary. The best part of the whole episode last night had to be them brining in the “Army Suregon Badass”. He was great and the thing with him and Christina is pretty intereting. I guess now we have to wait two weeks to see what will happen next Seattle Grace.

Another Day

Well today was just another day. I was at St. Francis Medical Center today, making rounds with one of their Quality Managers. I am learning a lot there and the people are really nice. My other classes seem to be going ok so far. I was really pleased to have gotten a paper back this week, from a teacher whom I usually dont do well with, that had an “A” on it. Other than that I have been enjoying some of the conversations that I have been having with a few other VMI girlfriends. They are the only ones who truly understand and its great that we can laugh and joke and help each other. Right now some of the cadets arent pleased with things at the “I” but I dont think it is really anything new. We’ve just got to make it through until May. On one other note before I sign off…. Grey’s Anatomy comes back tonight!! I’ve very excited to see what is gonna be in store for this season.

I’m back

OK.. so I have been gone away extremely too long. The summer I was pretty busy, doing school work, working, and running here and there with my boyfriend and friends who were home for summer break. Now that everyone is back at school and the fall semester has started, I’ll probably be back on this thing a lot. This semester should also entail some pretty interesting things to write about on here. I will be do my internship this semester which should be exciting as well as my other classes and working. I also hope to have trips to VMI thrown in there as well. My first one is scheduled for this Saturday and I’ve very excited to tailgate with some fellow girlfriends, the only thing is we hope this hurricane does not interfere. I’ll let you know how it goes.

Its been a while

As you can see from the date of my last post it has been awhile since I’ve written anything on here. But that is usually what pretty much happens in a small town…nothing. Nothing interesting or substantial has really happened to write about, but I guess I could mention a few small things. For starters, VMI’s summer classes are finally over and my boyfriend is home for about a month before he goes back for fall semester. Now I am waiting for my summer classes to finish up, thankfully, they end next week. Also this week, my cousins are at the beach and they asked me to feed their animals. So lets see, this week I am taking care of…7puppies, 5 dogs, 3 cats, and some gold fish. I am getting very stir crazy and tired of hanging around my home town. I need an atmosphere change, I think I might head to the beach for a day or two next week, but we shall see, I’ll keep ya updated.

Chased by a German Dancer

My cousin Ashley and I up and decided to go to Busch Gardens the other day. We went in with a plan to ride all the roller coasters as soon as we got there, so that the lines would not get too long. After riding all 5 major roller coasters, we were hungry and since we just got off from the Big Bad Wolf, we decided to just go eat at the Festhaus in Germany. We had both eaten there before and we didnt mind if we didnt get to see the show while we were eating. However, we got inside just as the one o’clock show was getting ready to start. We enjoyed the air condition as we ate our pizza and watched the show. We finished our lunch right before the show ended and we got up to throw our stuff away. Right as we turned back around from the trash can to head out the door, one of the German guy dancers made eye contact with me and headed our way to take us on stage. Ashley and I immediately turned around and headed in the other direction, but the guy was persistent, chased us down and drug me on stage to do the last dance with him. I was laughing so hard and did not have a clue what I was doing. Then he asked me if I had seen the show before and I told him yes, the he said “so you know what is gonna happen next?” and I said no. He had a microphone in one hand and proceed to get down on one knee. He looked like he was about to serenade me, and then he said “just kidding, I couldnt resist.”

The Best Work Out Ever

I have found the best work out ever and believe it or not it is actually fun. I spend the day yesterday out on the lake with family and friends. We enjoyed swimming, tubing, and just riding around out on the boat, soaking up the sun. We were pulling two tubes behind the boat and everyone that rode tried to knock the other one off. You dont realize how many muscles you have to use to hang on to a tube that is being slung around at about 32mph. Between that, the water, and the sun, we were all pretty beat by the time we got in the car to head home. I had my boyfriend, Alex and his little brother rinding home with me and lets just say it was a very silent ride home, other than the radio. However, there was no time for me to rest, as soon as I dropped them back off at home, I headed straight to church for the first night of Vacation Bible School. Whew.. what a chore, there where 15, 5-6year olds in my group. So here it is the best work out plan ever: a day of tubing on the lake to work your arms and upper body followed by a night of chasing a bunch of children around to work your legs.

Summer Classes

Evaluation research, quasi experiments, idiographic and nomothetic methods, antidumping, price controls, the male to female ratio of college students in 2000, does anyone really need to know all of this? Especially someone who is majoring in Health Care Administration. While summer classes are a great way to get some credits knocked out of the way in a shorter period of time, it is also a shorter period in which to get all the work done. Oh, what I would give to be outside on this beautiful Virginia day, soaking up the sun, laying in the pool, walking, anything than sitting in here at the computer answering discussion questions for an International Marketing class. I do have to say though, that this assignment is much better than the one I had yesterday for SOC320, which is Sociological Research Methods which = yuck! I just have to keep my eye on the prize, May 22, 2009!! And now that I have taken a break to share all of this, I really must get back to finishing this work.

Its a Wild Ride

I know what can make amusement/theme parks tons of money! Maybe I should rethink my major, instead of being in Health Care maybe I should be going into Marketing. So what is this thing that could make amusement parks a fortune you ask? It is the newest, fastest, craziest rollercoaster ever, all they have to do is fashion it after my life and give it a catchy name. My life is great so don’t get me wrong, but it has some of the biggest hills and steepest drops ever. It is full of twists and turns and the occasional corkscrew and just like my life, it is going at lightening speed, even if it does not feel like it sometimes. I am buckled in and hanging on tight, because its one wild and beautiful ride!
